Rain in the Forecast? Why Your Cottage Getaway Isn’t Ruined

A rainy day, or 2, is an invitation to unplug, throw the itinerary out the window, and rediscover the lost art of the "Cottage Day In"

It’s about trading the rush of "doing" for the luxury of simply "being."

Whether you’re visiting as a family, a couple, or a group of friends, here’s how we turn spring rain into one of the best parts of your stay.

1. The Gold Medal Rainy Day Experience: The Covered Hot Tub

This is the "gold medal" of rainy-day activities. Because our hot tub at is fully covered, you can soak in the steaming 100-degree water while watching the rain fall over the yard. There is something deeply therapeutic about being warm and submerged while the cool spring rain falls around you. It’s the ultimate way to embrace the elements in peace.

2. The Dynamite Sunroom Picnic

Forget the dining table. When the rain starts, it’s time for the "Carpet Picnic."

  • The Sunroom Picnic: Grab the blankets and floor cushions. Set up your meal right against the massive windows so you can feel like you’re part of the weather without getting wet.
Turn on the electric fireplace to add that golden glow and instant warmth to the room. Watching the rain dance across the Crowe River while basking in the warmth of the fire is the ultimate "Slow Flow" experience.

3. Separate Zones for Every Mood

One of the best things about a rainy day here is that there is enough space for everyone to have their own "vibe" without tripping over each other:

  • The Competition Zone (Rec Space): While the rain falls, the volume goes up downstairs. With 50+ board games, indoor mini-putt, and foosball, you can host a full-blown family tournament.

  • The Games Garage: For the "big kids," the garage is the place to be. It’s equipped with a pool table, darts, and a basketball shooter game. No raincoats required.

  • The Kitchen Sanctuary: Nothing beats the smell of baking cookies on a grey day. Our kitchen is a separate, fully stocked space perfect for those who want to spend the afternoon creating something delicious.

  • The Movie Marathon (3 TVs!): No more fighting over the remote. With three separate TVs, the kids can watch their cartoons, the teens can do what teens do? and the adults can binge a TV show they never have time to watch. However, If you can all agree on a movie, come together in the rec space on our massive pit couch, it’s built for family movie nights and ultimate comfort.

  • The Quiet Corners: Need to escape the noise? Head to a quiet space to read a book or catch up on a nap.

4. The "Four Walls" Rescue (Just 5 Minutes Away)

We know that sometimes kids (and adults!) just need to move. If you’re starting to climb those beautiful cottage walls, we have the perfect "emergency exit" just down the road at the Marmora Pool.

  • Indoor Swim: Head into townfor a swim between 8 AM and 10 PM. It’s $15 per person or $60 for a family of four.
  • Pro-Move: Want the place to yourself? Call or text 613-324-4555 to book a Private Swim.
  • The Reward: Grab a hot meal at The Victorian Diner on-site before heading back to the retreat for one last game before bed.

Rain Solved.
